The Distruction of Political Youth

"Youth Beyond the Politics of Hope" is an article that has been drawn from Henry A. Giroux's book, "Youth in a Suspect Society," which has just been published by Palgrave/McMillan.

It is the most amazing piece of writing I've read in a long time, and I love to read anything I can get my hands on. I was a little unsure if this story was a good one but by the time I finished the first paragraph I was definitely hooked. This individual, Henry A Grioux, is dead on the money if you ask me. He used lots of facts and statistics that helped prove his point. Being a person who is interested in the science field facts speak loud and clear for me. I have also seen firsthand that many of these statements are true. I believe that the youth of America has been condemned not just by society politically but economically as well. We have one of the highest dropout rates in the world as well as one of the higher teen pregnancy, only half of High School Graduates make it to College and half of those make it past their second year and what’s worse is only 1/3 of those who make it to their second year graduate. Though the numbers may increase temporarily because College is so highly encouraged at the moment but the fact remains the same that not enough is being done to help educate our future. I believe the "ME" generation is to blame. This article tells of all the things our government is doing, has done, and should be doing. As in the problems they created and how they made matters worse, how they have caused us to go in a downward spiral of greed, corruption, lack of financial stability, and the ruling elite of the corporations. It is the first in a series of articles that I think we should SHARE with everyone we know. I think it’s time the public stopped standing by , watching us spiral out of control and instead put the system back it it’s place and make it do the job we created it for. This article has said many things most of the public are afraid to admit until things get to bad to fix them, and I believe it will encourage the public to take a stand before we end up in another revolution….. The one against ourselves and the monster we created.
