Abortion.. its our right to choose and there can still be regulation for reason.

Abortion…. It’s a BIG topic and one that takes lots of consideration. I read what my fellow classmate PERVEZ MANASIYA said on the topic and I’m afraid I quite dissagree. Abortion isnt death, at least not the way I look at it. I believe ther are certain times you can have an abortion. 1st under the age of 18 you should be aloud to have an abortion. 2nd As long as your in the first trimester. 3rd if you were raped (because for some people this is a constant reminder they may not be able to live with perminatly hurting the child and the way it is raised). I also believe that inorder to have the abortion if your over the age of 18 and are married you have to inform your significant other, NO EXCEPTIONs. After that point you will have choice to decide together. Yes it is a womans body but the choice is not hers alone to make. And even though people want babies they can adopt there are still lots of kids who need parents not just babies. Everyone sees abortion as the distruction of life, but they don’t look at our cars that way, they don’t look at the hundreds of plants and trees cut down that way, or even eggs that people eat for breakfest or are used in cooking so it makes no logical since as to why they should look at human birth that way. We also need to remember that our population doubles ever 6 months and we need to keep the human population in check or our world will be over run and then we will have no choice as to if we want one child or 3. Though I know it’s a big issue I think it should be alowed and people shouldn’t be alowed to sue over it. (I’m refering to the man who rape a 20year old who had the abortion and then was sued for doing so because he had a birth right to the child). Abortion is one of those many steps that are a tricky one and should be examined as if you looked at it wrong it would break kinda things, but it should also be OUR CHOICE because we can choose to destroy our planet so why can’t we choose if or when we want to be parents?

Tougher Rules for Wall Street

I read this article on the New York Times called “House Approves Tougher Rules on Wall Street”. The House approved a Democratic plan to tighten federal regulation of Wall Street. This includes the banks, to advance a far-reaching Congressional response to the financial crisis that knocked the economy right out of its chair. The plan is to “create an agency to protect consumers from abusive lending practices, set rules for the trading of some of the sophisticated financial instruments that fueled the crisis, and take steps to reduce the threat that the failure of one or two huge banks or investment firms could topple the entire economy.” How ever their may be additions after the Obama adminastration lookes over and adjusts the plan and the Senate won’t get that document untill next year. The Democratic party of the house said it will be the biggest thing to hit Wallstreet since the Great Depression. Sadly No Republican voted for plan, and 27 Democrats broke ranks with their party. The Republicans strongly criticized the Democratic legislation, “saying it could restrict the availability of credit, cause job loss and lead to future bailouts of failing businesses.” That’s a lot of blame coming from the party that wouldn’t even participate in the matter. The bill is claimed to create a Consumer Financial Protection Agency, which may end up in the billions, in an attempt to head off the kinds of lending practices that lead many homeowners to take on mortgages they could not afford. The bill would also “create a process for dealing with troubles at very large financial institutions that might pose a risk to the financial system and the economy, and require large firms to contribute to a fund to help with an orderly dissolution of those institutions if they are in danger of failing.” Among the things the bill will change includes a number of provisions to address executive compensation, investor protections and regulation of hedge funds. The Demoratics who broke from the party, the Republicans and the Banking industry tried to argue away the bill saying “a central element of the overhaul — represented an unnecessary bureaucratic approach that would give the federal government excessive control over mortgages, credit cards and other financial products.” Where as just a few years ago they were all for the LAW that stated once you went bankrupt the collector companies would still call,”harass”, you for the money you owed instead of going back to zero value. Honestly in my opinion I believe this is a grand idea. And the majority Democrats are right to ignore the banking industry and the Republicans disagreements on this topic because its about darn time Wallstreet got a leash put on it just like the rest of us. Though with the Senates Voting record I will keep my fingers crossed in hopes that it gets passed and prevents any more mishapps from becoming so dang extreme.

Million Dollar Military

“I don't think they should be sending anymore troops over to Afghanistan” is the opinion of my fellow classmate Michele Zeiss. Under some circumstances I would most definitely agree. The fact that I feel were just wasting our time over there could be quite obvious if you knew me as an individual. But the Militray brat that I am gives me a little more creditably. Yes the Military brat come into play because its all sides, Marines (grandpa), Airforce (Father), Navy (Uncle, moms brother) and Army (several cousins). I believe we are in this war for a reason and we sure better finish what we start. Which is the only reason I aprove of us being over there. America has a history of picking a fight or getting in the middle and as soon as were no longer fired up we want to back out and pretend as if we were never involved. This war, I feel, is partly our fault, do to the way things were handled when President Reagan was in power. Then when the twin towers got distroyed we looked for a scape goat for our displaced anger and picked a foe we considerably misjudged. We ASSumed they would be an easy target that could be taken care of quickly and then we could wash our hands of it, which never happens, and made an ass of us all. I always agreed that an action had to be taken for the massacre that took place in New York but WAR should ALWAYS be a last result not a First Choice. Seeing as we picked our battle it is now our duty to finish what we started or lose the game but there is no Honor in backing out of a deal. Though more lives will be regrettably lost and it will cost the citizens millions, I do hope we finished what we started and remember this for the future. Maybe next time we will think twice before we let our “alligator mouth over load our canary butts.”

U.S. National Government

The United States National Government is a big topic and the hard part is deciding where to start. Our country has many views on all the topics some that present themselves and get taken to the chopping block while others are repeat offenders. From the though topics of Abortion and Health Care to the no brainers like Gay "Same-Sex" Marrage. It’s hard not to judge the way our government reacts to things because after all our government is run by human beings. I mean that in every aspect because even though they are many colors and both sexes I feel as though they are not ready to move into the comming time period. You know at one point Y2K was a BIG deal. Now it’s just another year but it shouldn't be. It’s been 2000 years on this planet and our rules are STILL THE SAME! How can that be? Did no one teach them an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind? Or maybe they need a refresher course in Grief, final stage being ACCEPTANCE. Do they not pay attention to the technology they use? Do they not watch how it evolves and we find flaws so we FIX the flaw and make the product better? Should we not treat laws the same way? It took us 100 years to make Black people Americans, and it didn’t matter that they were born here like us or if they came from Britian or Jamica or Affrica and we still have raceistes in our country. If you walk among a community college or a highschool or best yet an elementary school you would notice they don’t care what color you are. Most won’t care if you’re a boy or a girl as long as you’re someone to play with. We as the adults of our suscioty teach them to hate and to dislike things and people. I believe its time our Congress walks among college students in very diverse cities and learn to see the world on our level. Ask us our views on things like the healthcare plan, Gay marrage, abortion and they will see a whole new persective. The laws they put in place now governs our future world. Most of us feel as if the would should move on the more important things instead of no brainer things. Though they will find some different answers on things because were all raised differently, but I’m willing to bet it will change the way they handle things up there in DC.
